Japan Airlines (JAL), one of Japan’s leading airlines, operates a network of 133 domestic and 66 international routes across Asia, the Americas, Europe, and Oceania. Its international hubs are located at Tokyo’s Haneda and Narita Airports, as well as Osaka’s Kansai Airport.

In a significant step toward enhancing operational efficiency, JAL became one of the first airlines  in the region to adopt NAVBLUE’s Mission+ DOC Manager. This move highlights JAL’s commitment to innovation and operational excellence.

– Why did JAL choose NAVBLUE’s Mission+ DOC Manager?

As JAL operates its current fleet of 22 A350 aircraft, we required a robust solution to efficiently manage Airbus Flight Operations manuals. Mission+ DOC Manager proved to be the ideal choice, offering advanced features like reconciliation functions, parallel batch publishing. The regulatory requirements tagging capability distinctively will allow JAL to efficiently manage their manuals that meets Japan Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB) standards.

– How did JAL transition to Mission+ DOC Manager?

The transition from ADOC to Mission+ DOC Manager was meticulously planned. Implementation began in January 2024 with tailored classroom training in Toulouse for JAL’s team. Between January and March 2024, JAL operated ADOC and Mission+ DOC Manager in parallel to ensure a smooth transition. By April 2024, JAL had fully adopted Mission+ DOC Manager for all Airbus Flight Operations manuals.

At JAL, the advanced features of Mission+ DOC Manager, such as reconciliation functions have proven invaluable. By detailed comparison tables for manual changes, MFR revision and unique operator customization, the platform has enabled us to enhance documentation accuracy, improve evaluation workflows.  Additionally, JAL expects regulatory requirements tagging will be beneficial to maintain adherence to regulatory standards in the future. The ability to edit in a Word-like format while preserving Airbus XML structure has greatly simplified the process, saving time. The software is capable of publishing in OLB format, and is fully compatible with NAVBLUE’s Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) Flysmart+, enhancing operational efficiency while ensuring the highest standards of safety and compliance.
